Things I’ve made and recommend you do too
I’ve come a long way since that day last September when I decided I was going to learn how to cook. I cook all the time now and have some recommendations for y’all.
I made this last night and it was really good and fairly healthy Stuffed tomato with roasted cauliflower:
I made this challah for the pre-Yom Kippur dinner and it seems a lot more impressive and difficult to make than it actually was:
This eggs in tomato sauce is one of two things (the other is the next dish below) I’ve made recently that seriously, I could live on, every day, every meal, forever. This is similar (or maybe identical, who knows) to a Middle Eastern dish called “shakshuka”.
Caramelized shallots and potatoes. If I need to say any more then obviously you’ve never eaten this and don’t know that your mouth will water every time anyone says the words “caramelized shallots”.
As always, recipe suggestions are very welcome in the comment section.

Fooooooood
Back in September, I decided I was going to learn how to cook. So, of course, I turned to my awesome commenters for direction and inspiration. You guys were, as always, the best.
I’ve updated some here about my various cooking expeditions but just put together a photo set of most of my attempts on flickr (including the cutie apron IC bought me…though I’m confident it’s his assistant–hi Barb!– who probably deserves most of the credit for the purchase) and thought I’d share.
Things I’ve made in the last 24 hours (both of which came out fairly phenomenal):
Crispy Salted Oatmeal White Chocolate Chip Cookies (recipe from Smitten Kitchen):

Soft shell crabs:
