Does Obama support the mosque at Ground Zero?

Who the hell knows.

Heh. Seems the focus group data is in, and it doesn’t look good for “Islam has always been a part of America”.

What Mosque?

Posted by: Capt. Oilybird at August 15, 2010 at 8:53 am

Is anyone really suprised by Obama’s stance err lack thereof?

I love the Republican faux shock.

OMG!!! The president is pro-Islam and wishy washy, I had Noooooooooo idea….I never would have voted for him…oh wait.

For a while after 9/11 I thought to myself if I were a Muslim in America I’d be very concerned for my safety. Fighting this mosque so strongly does make America look hypocritical regarding “freedoms”.

Telling Muslims “you cannot build a mosque there” is essentially blaming them for what happened reeks of bigotry. If Muslims are to blame for 9/11, wtf (why the f) are we helping them in Iraq and Afghanistan?

Let them build the Mosque. Nobody cared about that abandoned building before this whole thing became politically charged. Actually instead of “let them”, I would say let us not alter our laws and prevent it.

Posted by: Dan Dee Man at August 16, 2010 at 1:41 pm

DDM,

Have you every thought to look at the arguments or those opposing the mosque before proving your ignorance by mocking -positions people don’t hold?

Few people oppose building mosques in general. Many more people oppose members of the Muslim Brotherhood building a mosque at a site damaged on 9/11. And the original name Cordoba House, refers to Christian territory taken by Muslims where Churches were razed and the sites replaced by mosques. It was so flagrant that the Muslim Brotherhood front has decided to call it Park51 instead.

As to your initial statement, we new Obama’s beliefs. That does not mean we cannot complain at the vileness of these or the stupidity of their execution. And the simple fact is that most Americans did not want to hear about Obama’s Marxist and Muslim post in 2008 at the media, as proven by the Journolist scandal, were actively hiding it.

Posted by: RonL at August 16, 2010 at 5:54 pm

“Few people oppose building mosques in general.”
This is just not true.
Your historical references show you blame Islam for the attacks and not Al-Queada. Wasn’t it W who said we shouldn’t confuse the two?

Posted by: Capt. Oilybird at August 17, 2010 at 1:22 am

Please define Christian territory.

Cordoba, under Muslim rule, was one of the most advanced cities of it’s time. The Great Mosque at Cordoba held a million volume library. Many non-Muslims travelled to Cordoba to study and learn and *some* argue, effectively I might add, that much of this accumulated and shared knowledge, sparked the European Renaissance. Ironically at that time the Iberian peninsula under Muslim rule was also the center of the Jewish culture.

Posted by: Dan Dee Man at August 17, 2010 at 9:27 am

yeah, yea, Cordoba was the hight of civilization! arabs were the navel of earth – in 13th century or earlier…hwo gave the world the arab numerals? see!

sic transit gloria mundi, DDM.

Especially when there was not much glory, only grief and mass murder that islam brought to humanity.

it is an ideology most vile, hateful, savage – worse than Nazism.

in any century during its history.

Posted by: Tatyana at August 17, 2010 at 12:08 pm

I never said Cordoba was the height of civilization. At that time 700-1000 AD, it was however, a major center of compiled knowledge. Its probably why the Park Place mosque builders picked that name, not because they wanted to rub it in the face of the Christians, as I was responding to the previous poster.

Islam is no worse than other religions that have their extremist moments, Christianity for example has had some moments that *most* would not be proud to remember.

And to answer your question. India.

Posted by: Dan Dee Man at August 17, 2010 at 3:59 pm

Capt. Oilybird,
When have I called for an attack on Islam instead of Al Qaeda here. How are posts on the Muslim Brotherood founded in 1928 and its membership an attack on Muslims is general. I am referring to the Muslim Brotherhood (Al-Ikawan) not Muslims (the Ummah).
However, the prounouncements of a B-school president who enshrined CAIR (a Muslim Brotherhood group) is not holy writ. It does show the incompetence and ignorance of our response since day 1.

Dan Dee Man,
Cordoba was CONQUERED by the Muslims in the 711. Previously, it was held by a Vandal Kingdom (Arianist or Cathiolic, not sure) and a Catholic Roman-Iberia population with some Jews. And the Great Mosque of Cordoba was built on the remains of a church the Muslims destroyed.

And the Golden Age of Jews in Andalusia ended under the Muslims. It ended in 1066 with Granada massacre by Muslims of Jews. a quarter century later, the Almoravids (a group of extremist Berbers.) And I’m not even going to start with the Almohad dynasty, whose very name al-Muwahhidun indicates their desire to purify Islam.

Let’s not call them multi-cultiarlists or such. Aside from optics, I can’t think of much actually inveted by Muslims for a few hundred years. Rather they took from the conquered peoples. Of course, they also destroyed things, like the library at Alexandria.

Posted by: RonL at August 17, 2010 at 8:35 pm

Well done RonL, you do Wiki!
I wonder why we don’t object to Catholic buildings near to kindergardens

Posted by: Capt. Oilybird at August 18, 2010 at 3:56 am

DOn’t answer rhetorical questions, DDM – it makes you look silly.
I didn’t ask you anything, less of all – about “achievements” of muslim arabs.
You missed my point: if they had any achievements at all (which in itself a dubious preposition) it happened in ancient antiquity. Tens of centuries ago. Since them this ethos leached on people they conquered, by sword or by lie. They are ultimate free-riders, parasites. And that would be OK – world is filled with parasites – but they are not peaceful parasites.
Catholic church – peaceful parasite (now). Any other organized Christian religion – peaceful parasite. Judaism have been and remains peaceful.

Islam is an ideology of conquer and submission of others. Once again – they are worse than Nazis. Just like Nazism is outlawed, so must be Islam.
No matter the nationality of a person who willfully accepts its tenets – that person is a Nazi, capable of murder, believing in forceful suppression of people outside of his/her cult.
When I see those creatures wearing sacks, exiting their house of indoctrination, putting their sandals back on their dirty heels –with the look of satisfied savages – I wonder why our society is so suicidal. We are not blind, but we allow people who are blinded themselves, to rule our courts and to seat in our government. Like Obama and Bloomberg, and millions of their idiotic supporters.
What is the opposite to idiot savant called? An idiot who is too clever for his own good?

Posted by: Tatyana at August 18, 2010 at 8:12 am

The opposite of an idiot savant would be a person with no knowledge that expresses themselves too much.

Some sects within Islam certainly are very bad and need to be eliminated. However, what you are saying is bigotry, racism and ignorance. You clearly do not share the mores and values that most people in the free world have.

Either that or you need some good ass slapping sex to calm you down.

Why you refer to Chrisitanity as a parasite and not Judaism ?

Posted by: Dan Dee Man at August 18, 2010 at 10:07 am

Ignorance? My dear boy, I lived among “tolerant’, “moderate” vodka-swilling muslims of Tatarstan for 12 years. I lived among westernized muslims of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan for 7 years. I have been living among “Americanized” muslims of middle-eastern descent (arabs, yes) in Brooklyn neighborhood that they occupied for another 11 years.

You are the one that’s ignorant. It looks like you believe the biggest danger a person could be in is to be called racist or bigot. No, dearie – the biggest danger, a real and palpable danger is to be beheaded or otherwise killed by your muslim brothers – they are the real, actual, unapologetic racists and antisemites.

Judaism is the one religion that triggered the most contributions to the world treasury in human history. Only a willfully blind cretin can call it parasitic.

as to lack of sex – sure, that’s your answer to all situations/opinions that you can’t comprehend? or you’re projecting?
Don’t answer, btw. I don’t want to know.

Posted by: Tatyana at August 18, 2010 at 10:57 am

…oh, and another thing: when someone posit as argument “most people in the free world” – it’s a sure sign of a half-brained collectivist leftie.

Think for yourself, boy. Life does not decide “by majority vote”.

Posted by: Tatyana at August 18, 2010 at 11:00 am

My Muslim brothers ?? Lol, wtf are you talking about..

If I knew you were Borat’s #1 or #2 in all of Khazakstan I would’ve just totally bought into all your arguments right off the bat. I’d definatley take you up on it but I havn’t been into Wizard’s sleeves since the late 90’s.

I rub Buddha’s belly every day and give him thanks that the world isn’t completely filled with people who think as you do.

Posted by: Dan Dee Man at August 18, 2010 at 12:11 pm

DDM – who cares what belly, imaginary or wooden, you rub, and how often?

Not me, kiddo.

Posted by: Tatyana at August 18, 2010 at 12:34 pm

Tatyana,

Nice work, dismantling the arch-fool.
Passionate articulate right-of-center women rule !

It’s so interesting that the lefties have finally found a religion and a place of worship that they can give public support to.

The lefties have always screamed that “we must have perpetrated something to make them angry!” as a justification for why Muslim “youths” engage in riots, murders, bombings, stonings, arson, et al.

Yet when it comes to the Ground Zero mosque, the lefties all of a sudden abandon that line of reasoning despite knowing that that the proposed mosque would anger a majority of Americans if it were to be built within a couple hundred yards of Ground Zero.

Also, there are countless examples of lefties embracing the “we don’t want to appear insensitive or offend anybody” when it comes to saying “Merry Christmas” during the Christmas season.
As a result, many department stores instruct their employees to say the watered-down “Happy Holidays” or “Season’s Greetings” rather than “Merry Christmas.”…all in an effort to make sure that an athiest or a Muslim or a Buddhist is not “offended” by the words “Merry Christmas.”

In other words, the lefties pretend that they don’t want anyone to be “offended.”
So, here’s a situation where a majority of New Yorkers as well as Americans are being offended by the mosque proposal at Ground Zero, and the lefties, yet the lefties once again abandon their “somebody is offended” defense.

Posted by: IamTheWalrus at August 23, 2010 at 6:13 pm

I have yet to meet anyone who has ever been offended by “Merry Christmas!”, and I think anyone who would be offended by it a high-grade ass.

Posted by: Capt. Oilybird at August 24, 2010 at 12:45 am

Capt. Oilybird,

You should pay attention to the news cycle during the Christmas—er, I mean—”holiday” season.

It’s been going on for a number of years.

A number of secular people will complain that various Christmas decorations and/or greetings offend their “constitutional right” to not be offended.
Also, people will complain that a Christmas parade, display, or invocation that has occurred for decades is offensive.

If you’re unfamiliar with these battles, it suggests you’re not particularly informed. No surprise.

Posted by: IamTheWalrus at August 24, 2010 at 6:01 pm

Mr Walrus, I refer you to the latter end of my post.
Now you mention it, I do recall reading about an incident on the subway when a group of (assuming Christian) people wished a “Merry Christmas” upon another (assuming Jewish) group, who, in turn, wish a “Happy Hannukah” upon them. The first group took umbrage at this; one of them shouted “Is that when you celebrate killing Christ!?” The (much smaller) second group were about to become the victims of a beatdown until another person intervened on their behalf, and made the first group think that perhaps they would not have such easy targets for victims.
Did you not hear about this? Maybe that was because the rescuer was a Pakistani student, and that won’t fit into the “evil muslim” storyline we seem to prefer.
I know muslims who put up trees at Christmas, exchange gifts and send cards. Maybe there are a few around who are offended by this. Fuck’em. They’re wrong, and if a business panders to these Bah-Humbug types, they are wrong as well.

“Also, people will complain that a Christmas parade, display, or invocation that has occurred for decades is offensive.”
You don’t see the irony of this sentence, and then state I’m not informed. Sheesh.

Posted by: Capt. Oilybird at August 25, 2010 at 6:30 am

Captain WTF, apparently, never heard nor he knows the meaning of the word “deception”. Riiight, those paki muslims – they are an incarnation of a Dove of Peace! An Angel with a Laurel Branch!

Somehow, years of news items describing the war lead by Pakistan on their border with India, tens of thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) treacherously and savagely murdered, derailed trains, exploded synagogue, Hindus slauhtered during their holy days – all by the word of their mullahs, for islam and jihad – all this escaped him.

What a simpleton.. he must be one of those people who devised incessantly stupid questions for immigration forms: “-Have you been in prison in your country?-Have you been diagnosed with contagious disease? – Have you been a member of Communist party?” etc. And they are immediately satisfied when answered in the negative – wel,l who would ever lie to them, and for what purpose?!? All we need is love, man.

Tatyana, should we deport all people who have come to the USA from the former USSR and Russia based on the fact that they found a sleeper cell of 10 people this year? Of course not.
Does the action of one guy change the international situation? Of course not.
Maybe you’d like that pakistani student to be imprisoned for putting decency and humanity before the bizarre ideas you think he must have. Perhaps he has ancestors or relatives that killed others. Oh Noes! If Pakistan is so bad, btw, why are we allied with them?

Isn’t it interesting that the Saudi Prince who has a share in NewsCorp is also backing the (not) ground zero (not) mosque?

Posted by: Capt. Oilybird at August 29, 2010 at 6:45 am

I noticed also that the Christians acting like assholes at the mention of Hannukah seems a reasonable price to pay for living in America to you. I base this on your non-comment about this.

Posted by: Capt. Oilybird at August 29, 2010 at 6:47 am

Captain:
no, we shouldn’t be allied with Pakistan.
no, we shouldn’t be allied with Saudis.

They are our enemies, and the enemies of Western Civilization.

You should look at Europe and what it became by allowing muslim infiltration en masse into their lands.
They are very close to de facto becoming islamic.

Christians acting as asses at the mention of Hanukkah: they should have been arrested by legitimate police officers and tried in the court of law – if they committed a crime or there is a reasonable cause for Jews to expect them to commit a crime. If this incident occurred in 16th century Spain – I’d say, the Jews had a reasonable expectation of pogrom. As it occurred in today’s America (btw, it’s all hearsay, since you didn’t present any proof of this story being real) and Jews have no precedent of pogroms by American Christians against them, by religious affiliation, not here nor anywhere in teh world – there is no expectation of being physically persecuted.

The opposite is true of the muslims. They physically assault Jews everywhere in the world where they feel they will not be persecuted for doing that. In the Middle East, of course, but in all islamic countries, and now in Europe, too. Jews in Sweden are advised not to wear yarmulkas or Star of David: they will be beaten and police will “not notice” it.
You are blind, and willfully. There is lots of information out there, facts, not propaganda – either muslim or leftist – but you chose not to see it, just like Swedish police.

Posted by: Tatyana at August 29, 2010 at 9:46 am

Here, Cap, some Sunday reading on Pakistan for you.

And note all the purple-prose breast-beating in the comments: impotents. Worse, they do nothing and still consider themselves better then their fellow countrymen savages.

Posted by: Tatyana at August 29, 2010 at 11:23 am

Yeah, there is always a cop when you need one. If anyone is similar to Muslim fundamentalism, it is the Christian fundamentalist movement in the USA. They share so many similar values and outlooks that they scare me as much.
As to demonizing peoples, well you haven’t learned much from the 1930s and 1940s have you?, so why cite the 16th century? What was that group of people who were demonized and oppressed in the 1930s called? I’m not sure, but I think they had bad press for a very long time. Any clue?
Once again you look hard at what I am saying without seeing what is being said. You are as bad to the Muslims in the USA as the Soviets were to you. Is that clear enough? Looking forward to your rant.

Posted by: Capt. Oilybird at August 29, 2010 at 2:03 pm

There will be no “rants”.
I’ll let the life the business of educating you.

Nobody pays me for this hard work.
