Looking for a hot, “cosmopolitan” destination?
The NY Times recommends Ramallah in the West Bank.

I was wondering if the article would have something reminiscent of Marion Barry. “Aside from the occasional violence, Ramallah is a very peaceful place in the West Bank.”
But bad joking aside, I’d like to believe it’s true that Ramallah is a booming center of commerce and nightlife, that Palestinians — as individuals acting in peaceful contrast to their leaders’ agendas of violence — realize there’s more to gain from voluntary exchange with Israelis than attacking them. But I still wouldn’t want to visit there, just like I said to a friend who spent a couple of weeks in Iraq as an actual tourist.
