Because you’ve all been dying to know…

Lionel Richie has finally commented on the appointment of Elena Kagan. So stop holding your breath.

Can you please clarify who this slam is directed towards? The wording makes it sound like you’re slamming Lionel Richie. You really should be railing against April Ryan, who randomly ran into Richie in the Atlanta Airport, videotaped his response and posted it as a news item. You should also direct some vitriol towards the Politico Click website, and probably others, who then picked up this non-story and reported that too. You get a pass because you’re not linking to it as a news story but instead making fun of it for not being news at all.

Republicans (and plenty of Democrats too!) often put down celebrities, and rightly so, for sticking their uninformed noses into the political arena, using their celebrity as a platform for social change. And if Richie had released a statement through his publicist expressing his opinion on Kagan, you’d have every right to tell him to shut the fuck up and cash his royalty checks for “All Night Long”. But when the guy is getting off a flight and he answers an innocent question because someone asked him and he’s a nice guy, does he deserve to be mocked? He’s not seeking out a public forum for his views, he’s just trying to get home. Yeah, he could have said no comment and kept walking, but the guy makes his living off of his image and being a dick to the press is not going to score any points for his career. Let’s give this guy a break for a minute and start a serious discussion on how the news media is manufacturing non-stories instead of practicing serious journalism.

So please, some clarity.

Hahaha, not slamming Richie just mocking the idea that he needs to comment on the new justice pick. When will his daughter issue her statement?

Hmmm…I thought I made myself clear, but I must not have. I’ll try again:

No one cares what Lionel Richie thinks…about anything. I think we’re in agreement on that. But when you say you’re “mocking the idea that he needs to comment on the new justice pick”, you’re implying that he went out of his way to do so. But he didn’t. He didn’t issue a statement. He didn’t hold a press conference. Instead, he was walking through the airport and a “reporter” asked him a stupid question after stumbling into him. He answered and went home. Then that reporter posted this clip as “Lionel Richie gives his opinion on Kagan!”.

If Karol was walking through the airport, got ambushed by some moron with a video camera and got asked, “What do you think about the Yankees new pitching lineup?”, would she be a laughingstock if the NY Post had a headline the next day shouting “Karol says ‘Retire Petite!’”.

Or should we be pointing our fingers at the moron with the video camera and saying, “do some real reporting”.

Boycott every one of the sanctuary cities and states after the boycotting of AZ and to stop obama from even touching that new AZ Law. We should have boycotted them a long time ago.
