Alarming News

It’s not April Fool’s day…

but our Senate is reviewing how colleges pick their #1 football team.

Part of me thinks this is a good thing; if they’re working on this nonsense they won’t have time to really screw up a different project (the economy, either war, etc.). On the other hand, we’re paying these people. Like actual money. I think we should stage an anti-AIG style protest outside the Capitol building demanding our money back, no?

Hatch is ever a fucking twit. He’s making John Kerry’s threat of hearings (if the Patriots game wasn’t broadcast on stations that had no such contract) look tame.

As a great statesman once said, JA BASTA!

Hatch is just appeasing the home folks who are up in arms that the undefeated Utah team didn’t go to a big bowl. Well maybe they should play in a big conference! But seriously folks-football is too important for Congress to screw around with.

Leaving this idiocy aside, I do think the BCS system is absolutely absurd.
College basketball fans second guess the NCAA selection committee because of a dispute over who should be seeded 64th, yet you have an entire sport where the championship is perpetually in dispute.

Yeah, the BCS system is kinda broken.
But putting Our Helpful Government in charge can only make it worse…
