Isn’t he just the bestest?
Actual headline: Obama breaks from Bush, avoids divisive stands in first week
Please note, funding overseas abortions is not a divisive stand but not funding them, why that just about ripped our country apart. Also, when Bush did it it was considered a gimme to that far-rightwing we’re always hearing about but Obama, why he’s just magnaminously funding abortions overseas and anyone who has a problem with that probably just listens to too much Rush Limbaugh. What recession?

Posted by: Eric at January 25, 2009 at 3:55 amMy favorite line in a similar story in the Milwaukee paper “he suggested that an America that gets along better with the world and doesn’t overreach in the war on terrorism”. Let me guess… that missile strike last week didn’t count.

The author might have meant that funding overseas abortions isn’t an issue most people seem to care about.
Perhaps, but I don’t think that means the public agrees with Obama’s enthusiasm for abortion. Most people simply didn’t see that as the overriding issue in the last election, but I don’t think that implies they agreed with Obama’s positions on life issues, which are more extreme than any previous Dem. candidate, with the possible exception of Kucinich.

Posted by: Jim Lesczynski at January 25, 2009 at 10:30 pmHow many abortions have been funded? Isn’t this more about sex ed and contraception than actual abortion. The Bill Donohues of this world might not see the difference. Well done to the Catholics for readmitting those holocaust denying bishops. They protect monsters and demonise condoms; great role model.
Posted by: bryan at January 25, 2009 at 10:42 pm1. Planned Parenthood doesn’t need more money confiscated from American taxpayers.
2. The U.N. doesn’t deserve any perceived legitimacy derived from an association with the American gov’t.
3. Even if this was a memorandum intended to distribute pez dispensers overseas, instead of bankrolling abortions, it would still be objectionable because the United Nations and Planned Parenthood are not entitled to pick your pockets. Let them get real jobs if they want to convince destitute women to have less children.
I’m totally with Gerard. While I am pro-life, my big problem with this isn’t the abortion, it’s the money.
Posted by: Karol at January 26, 2009 at 1:44 pmSo if he cut funding to Israel, you’d be glad???
