Though the “who do you think you are, a Kennedy?” line is pretty good
The trailer for the Oliver Stone film “W” is out, and it’s a doozy. You’re not going to believe this but it looks like President George W. Bush might’ve been a bit of a slacker party boy in his youth. And, AND, it looks like he might have had a bit of a drinking problem! I know! I couldn’t believe it either! He’s been president for nearly 8 years and this is brand new information just coming to light now. Man, if only we’d known this around the 2000 and 2004 elections, how different things might have been.

Stone is one of the oddest figures in Hollywood. He tries to explain the time of his time and sometimes has hits (Platoon, Wall Street, Heaven and Earth I suppose) and often has misses (Nixon). I suspect W will be a miss. On the other hand, Stone often seems to want to ponder ancient and fantastic civilizations-Alexander (which he then redid twice on DVD) and his role with Conan the Barbarian back in the 80s. Indeed, Stone event wanted Conan to be like the James Bond films, a new one each year or two with plots that are really not connected to the previous films. Part of me keeps thinking that Stone wants to make sword and sandal epic films like the ones from the 50s and early 60s.
Having said that, I don’t expect to see too much noise from the GOP on the film. The more the GOP and McCain tie themselves to W. the more the American people will turn away.
agree that Bush is a drag on McCain. I wouldn’t say 35 was that young, and I’m pretty sure that was how old Bush was when he was last caught DUI.
