“Driftwood” by Travis.
I don’t know why I had this song in my head all weekend but when I finally pulled it up on youtube last night it was with straight wonder that Coldplay have made it as big as they have despite being a blatant Travis ripoff. And ok, Travis sounds a lot like early Radiohead but at least they are acknowledged as a 1 album wonder. Life isn’t fair.

new stuff out by Travis – very very good. To BE fair they tailed off afer their second album, but you’re right, knok coldplay into a cocked hat. Turn is my favourite
I will always think fondly of Travis for giving us a Scottish connection, which perhaps lead to another (tenuous, moi?). Most Scots I know are sniffy about Travis, Primal Scream, Franz Ferdinand and pretty much any recently successful Scots acts – weird. p.s. Two Scottish related posts do not a visit make.
That is a good song–I wonder why I don’t have that album, even though I have “The Invisible Band” (love listening to that straight through) and I liked “Why Does It Always Rain on Me”?
If the album 12 Memories was not sucktastic, Travis would still be the tops for many. The Man Who and The Invisible Band are still in the regular rotation for me. In my view, while they never had the market share of Coldplay despite better albums, they could have rebounded. One truly bad album did them in.
