When you’ve solved all the country’s other problems

The greenest convention in history is having some issues:

The host committee for the Democratic National Convention wanted 15,000 fanny packs for volunteers. But they had to be made of organic cotton. By unionized labor. In the USA.

Official merchandiser Bob DeMasse scoured the country. His weary conclusion: “That just doesn’t exist.”

Ditto for the baseball caps. “We have a union cap or an organic cap,” Mr. DeMasse says. “But we don’t have a union-organic offering.”

People still use fanny packs?

Posted by: Marco at June 25, 2008 at 2:57 pm

All this fuss and those packs and caps will likely end up buried deep in the closet.
Couldn’t they just find a company that produces those items locally and be content?

My fanny packs are organic nylon. In fact, anything that can be made in an organic chemistry lab should be considered organic.

Marco beat me to it. Fanny packs? The only fanny pack worth keeping is the one that sings Camel Toe.

chsw…
technically isn’t anything with carbon considered “organic”, nylon included?
if you really wanna confuse someone at a grocery store try asking how the non “organically-labeled” tomatoes aren’t still organic:
“so those tomatoes AREN’T carbon based?!?!?!”

Democrats have picked up the mantra of “energy independence,” and they oppose imports in favor of domestic production. So why not have some of them file papers to form their own little union, and start sewing themselves?
Oh, that’s right, it would be too expensive. A waste of time, because they could be earning more doing other jobs, and then having to use only a fraction of the income to buy fanny packs, right?
And that’s exactly why Democrats will never understand why we trade with each other, and how trade increases prosperity.
Or Democrats could find some of these newly homeless people the MSM keeps talking about, the ones who are “victims” of ARMs. Hire them to make the fanny packs, and pay them a nice, high “living” wage. How much would the fanny packs cost now, hmm? And all this time you hear on the nightly news how the minimum wage doesn’t make prices higher…

Witnenssing all the endless ‘green’ hand-wringing inside the convention juxtaposed against moonbat rioting out on the streets promises to be pure comedy gold.
Most. awesome. convention. ever.

“We have a union cap or an organic cap,” Mr. DeMasse says. “But we don’t have a union-organic offering.”
If you were willing to pay $20 wholesale, instead of $2, you would. It’s about price, morons.
Better to buy cheap, Chinese hats and use the saved $ on something more efficient like, you know, winning the election.
Alas, the Dems are even worse than the GOP at “getting” market economics.

So true, Joe. And I thought the Clinton years proved how close Democrats are to the Chinese?
