Joey by Concrete Blonde.

I love all that emotion in her voice and I usually don’t like chick singers.

When that song came out, I was dreading yet another tune being added to the:
* “Hey Joe, where you going with that gun in your hand?”
* “Hi. My name is Joe. And I work in a button factory.”

(Of course, except for all the hip-hop.)

If you like that song, try listening to Tomorrow, Wendy”, “Walking in London” or “Bloodletting”.

MTV VJ Dave Kendall alarmed the members of Concrete Blonde while interviewing them in the early 90s by mentioning that his girlfriend watched the entire video for “Joey” thinking it was a Heart song, which makes sense (but I love their earlier stuff — not to mention Heart’s earlier stuff, right up through “How Can I Refuse?”).
