Listening Back on 2006 (by guest blogger Peter)
I’ve decided, unlike years past, to not make a Top 10 Albums of 2006 list. My reasoning falls somewhere along the line that I haven’t been able to process albums bought in November the same way in which I’ve already processed albums bought in January, and therefore can’t make an objective comparison. Is this a cop out? Perhaps. I also don’t have any interest in these lists at the moment.
But keeping with the same self-indulgent spirit, I present to you a sampling of my favorite musical moments and trends of 2006.

That Band of Horses video is pretty cool; Edward Hopper-esque. I wonder if that’s original footage.
“Linda Linda” is interesting. Even though it’s from 15 years ago, I kept getting reminded of “Scotty Doesn’t Know” from EuroTrip.
Are these Cathode Ray songs… still available online?
Other than that, nice roundup. I’ll assume your lack of reference to any releases from T.I. or Chingy is the result of simple negligence.
Such an unexpected Scotty Doesn’t Know reference! I never would’ve made the connection, but now that you mention it…
The Ray Cathode mp3s are no longer up on the blog where I found them. They may be available elsewhere, but I can get a copy to you.
And, uh, yes! The absence of T.I. and Chingy were just negligence on my part.
