Another post of odds and ends

*Ace makes football posts funny.

*Jonah Goldberg has often written about doing nothing as a government policy. Looks like the Czech Republic has taken that idea to heart.

*Dorian Davis has redone the “Republican Spectacular”, an online magazine for gay Republicans, and it looks fly.

*The NY Times discovers that sometimes it’s awkward when Republicans and Democrats are friends. Personally, no matter how passionate I am about politics, and how happy I am to meet fellow conservatives, I think political beliefs shouldn’t rank too highly on the list of qualities in a friend. And I save special scorn for the woman in the article who cuts off her mom for a month because her mother is the only person she knows that supports Bush. Lo-ser.

It gets awkward at work sometimes, but that shouldn’t be much of a surprise. I’m sure you would agree, Karol. ;)
The 2004 GOP convention was “fun.” Especially with delegates staying across from my office building.

Doing nothing as govt policy.
Ever seen the 1st episode of Yes Prime Minister?
PM in meeting with chief civil servant Sir Humphrey and is saying he wants to know what he could do to continue the positive reaction to his ascension.
Sir Humphrey: Have you considered masterful inactivity?
PM: The Prime Minister must be firm Humphrey.
SH: Ok how about Firm Masterful inactivity?

The old saying that you should never discuss politics or religion is a wise one. That is not too hard because only 2% of the population are political wonks.
Most of my friends never discuss politics or religion and many of them I do not even know what their politics are. If any Democrat brings up politics in my presence, I go silent and give them my amazing death ray stare. It shuts them up, and they never bring up politics again.
They still want to be my friend because I am so sophisticated and charming as are all Republicans.

Wait…we are allowed to not talk to Republicans? Get OUT! I thought after 9/11 there was some Homeland Security thing…
