Tonight, tonight

If you’re in NYC tonight, I’ll be watching the debate at a bi-partisan debate party at San Marcos Bar and Restaurant, 12 St. Marks Place (between 2nd & 3rd Avenues). The NY Young Republican Club (the independent one) and the DL21C are hosting and it’s $5 for non-members, free for members of those groups.

I hear that the Communists for Kerry will be in attendance this evening and it’s worth the trip just to see them. Also, I’m leaving tomorrow, in case ya hadn’t heard, and it’s also worth the trip just to see me. :-)

UPDATE: Oh, also, I’m going to try to get there early to get good seats, so come early too if hearing the debate matters to you. Ari, Jessica, Lisa and I are leaving from the upper east side at 7:30ish.

So quick question for a new political junkie: how does a candidate win a debate? Do they out-argue their opponent or do they just do their best to be likable?

Debate I

I’ll be watching the presidential debate tonight at the San Marcos Bar on St. Marks Place with a supposedly bipartisan cast of bloggers and other political observers. Analysis of the debate and the just-as-important media coverage will come later tonig…

I think it’s the latter. People have to come away from it saying ‘I like that guy better than that other guy’. In 2000, the media called the first debate for Gore thinking he outargued Bush, then Bush got a bump in the polls.

I would like to be on record as one of the many people turned away…That line was around the block! And I think I was further mystified by the Kerry posters…But alas, I now owe you a drink AND I have to redeem my word about showing up places.
