Cain loses.

That’s life, people, that’s life.

Like Southern Appeal, I know the things that went wrong but just don’t feel like writing about it right now.

Sorry Karol.

Posted by: Scott at July 21, 2004 at 12:44 pm

Karol — Cain ran a decent race, didn’t miss a runoff by much and he’ll be back. I’m sure that it all seems very disheartening but y’all (as they say down South) have much to be proud of.

Posted by: bobm at July 21, 2004 at 12:53 pm

“don’t feel like” or “too drunk to”? Be honest.

Posted by: Dawn Summers at July 21, 2004 at 12:55 pm

I’m proud of you kiddo. Good experience! Now get your ass back to NYC where you belong! As for the candidate, you should be saying to yourself… “Next?”… You’re not going to start saying “Y’all” are you?

Posted by: Toby at July 21, 2004 at 1:06 pm

I’m sad for Karol but not exactly suprised.
Cain ran a decent race but he started too late and shopped for a Senate seat (Nebraska) too long. With Collins in the race, social conservatives were split as well. Cain is a great motivational speaker and I think he wants to be back but (assuming Isakson wins) two Republican senators and a governor block his path up.
Meanwhile the Club for Growth, the Anthony Young of politics (some of you Mets fans will get it), keeps up its losing ways…one more loss for Moore.
Best of luck in the future Karol and I hope you enjoyed your time in the Peach State.

Posted by: Von Bek at July 21, 2004 at 1:12 pm

hey, hey now Von Bek — Club for Growth is no Anthony Young, I was actually pulling for him! (I still don’t get that “I am still a Whig” comment…what does it mean?)

Posted by: Dawn Summers at July 21, 2004 at 1:19 pm

“Why I am still a Catholic” implies that I have major problems with the Church and stay in it despite it all. “Why I am still a Whig” implies that I have major problems with the Whig Party-like the fact it has not run a presidential candidate of its own since 1852-but remain a member. I don’t have a problem with the Church so I am a Catholic instead of still a Catholic.
And due to their often excelusionary policies regarding Catholics not to mention high tarrifs, internal improvements at the expense of the central government, I am not a Whig. But I do feel bad for Anthony Young.

Posted by: Von Bek at July 21, 2004 at 1:36 pm

Sweetie… I’m sorry you won’t get to finish out the experience but it must have been amazing!!
And quite selfishly; I’m thrilled you’re headed back to Yankeeville!!!

Posted by: Ari at July 21, 2004 at 1:42 pm

Karol,
So sorry to hear about the race (I was pulling for you and even lobbied my co-worker who is registered down there on Cain’s behalf).
Once you are back in NYC, I promise to attend one of your GOP events and first drink is on me :)
Kevin

Posted by: Kevin Patrick at July 21, 2004 at 2:16 pm

I’m sorry darling:(
But I’m also a selfish beeotcch like Ari who is glad to have you back!

Posted by: Lisa at July 21, 2004 at 3:04 pm

I never took the time to learn about the candidates, so I don’t know how to feel about the election. I’m sorry that your guy lost, though, because I know that being at the election day “victory party” for a candidate that loses is about as depressing as things get.

Posted by: ugarte at July 21, 2004 at 4:07 pm

:(
Sorry sweetie.

Posted by: Courtney at July 21, 2004 at 4:14 pm

I’m sorry. :-(

Posted by: Bond Girl at July 21, 2004 at 7:10 pm

as a georgia boy that acually voted for cain, i wonder if you think he will be back.

Posted by: red clay at July 21, 2004 at 10:43 pm

Karol! Even though Cain lost, you still rock!
I’m sure you’ll be able to make lemonade out of this lemon. In my experience, failures have been just as important as successes. Can’t wait to see you!

Posted by: Ivan Lenin at July 22, 2004 at 2:22 pm

sux.
but nothing a strip club and a shot of vodka can’t cure. cmon, let’s get hit the town.

Posted by: Jessica at July 22, 2004 at 3:10 pm

though you have lost, i am sure that this experience has been one that will help you take over the world

Posted by: cube at July 22, 2004 at 3:26 pm

Fuck that Uncle Tom Cain!
I love the French and Germans more every day. AWESOME! Check it out!

Posted by: Barney Gumble at July 22, 2004 at 5:01 pm

K,
At least they let your guy run in a primary. Be happy you had that experience.

Posted by: Sean at July 23, 2004 at 10:21 am

Now I’m starting to worry. No posting in 2 whole days?

Posted by: Lisa at July 23, 2004 at 11:51 am

Don’t worry, Lisa. In fact, if Karol were here, I’m sure she would say “Don’t worry, Lisa. I’m fine. In my absence, all Spot On readers should go read Clareified.” (Except she would write it, Clare-ified, which is just plain wrong.)

Cain is a revolting populist, apparently losing money
(which is unusual) overestimating the general
ignorance in this country. His most revolting
(as I see it) jolt was to complain that he is
not gotta draw all the monies he paid to Social
Security before he dies (as karol says, the sooner the better).
He, I guess, figured out that those struggling on the
dole do not give a fuck about Republican primaries.
Righly so. However, this still leaves unresolved
the problem for his campaign that Cain is a revolting
Republican -od-fearing ass-licker, despised by
anybody with brains and sense of justice.

Rev, the trick is to take all your meds every day. We’ll all feel better.

Posted by: Mark Poling at July 23, 2004 at 4:25 pm

What meds, fatso? I am puzzled.

Posted by: rev at July 23, 2004 at 10:30 pm

Cain is a revolting ass-licker, despised by anybody with brains and sense of justice.

So obviously rev-olting, this makes you his biggest fan.
Retard!

Posted by: Radical Redneck at July 24, 2004 at 10:17 am

I’ll be back soon. I’m on a much needed vacation. Miss you guys. :-)

Posted by: Karol at July 24, 2004 at 11:39 am

Rev, that may be the problem. Read your prescriptions.
Yeah, I’m fat. Say it to my face. My real name is on these things. I live in Brooklyn. As far as I know, I’m the only Mark Poling in the borough.
Trash-talking pansy, you.

Posted by: Mark Poling at July 24, 2004 at 6:49 pm

And Karol, beligerant troll-feeding aside, I miss your posts. Don’t take this loss so hard. There will be other battles.
I think I want to work the Republican Convention this year. Can you help me get in touch with whomever would be appropriate?

Posted by: Mark Poling at July 24, 2004 at 6:52 pm

I do not *deliver*. Get your abundant behind to Morningside Heights, and you will get what you are asking for. Monday, say, 8pm, SE corner of CPW and 110.
Pansy, heh.

Posted by: rev at July 24, 2004 at 10:28 pm

hey! i’m going to be in morningside heights on monday at that very time – i’ll fight ya!
bitch

Posted by: scot at July 24, 2004 at 11:48 pm

Brave man, rev.
What’s your name?

Posted by: Mark Poling at July 25, 2004 at 12:33 pm

I should ride an hour and a half to stand on an empty street corner with Scot? Don’t think so.
But Scot, if you wanted to meet up sometime in the village, let me know.

Posted by: Mark Poling at July 25, 2004 at 12:58 pm

Tough break.
But they won’t have Cain to kick around anymore. Til he runs again :)
Karol, I have been taking a break from my blog and I can hardly stand it…I have so much to say….I hope I’ll be back in about a week.

Posted by: Dorian at July 25, 2004 at 3:18 pm

Mark: I am quite unwilling to post here my personal
information. The bunch frequenting this log consists mostly of
embittered republicans paranoidal about people
“taking advantage” (immigrating into this fair
country, benefitting from their social security
contributions and taxes, in general, having life
outside their claustrophobic cubicles) over them.
I am an alien, and by PATRIOT act can be detained
at GA’s volition as soon as any of you guys decides
to inform on me. I’d rather not have you tempted.
Otherwise, if you still want to be called fatso
orally rather than in print, be my guest.

Posted by: rev at July 25, 2004 at 7:02 pm

I’m not really sure what happened in this comment section but thanks for the good wishes and for those that were happy Cain lost, I tell you the same thing I told a certain nutso leftist in my life: the universe may not reward me but it will definitely punish you for gloating.
And please, no fighting, we all know conservatives kick ass more than liberals. Liberals won’t fight back, they’ll just start a protest in Central Park. So, cool it guys.

Posted by: Karol at July 25, 2004 at 7:52 pm

‘I am an alien, and by PATRIOT act can be detained at GA’s volition as soon as any of you guys decides to inform on me.’
someone call ashcroft – we got a spook in the joint!
see what happens when you go away karol – the place decends into anarchy (or for our leftist friends, ascends).
mark, i’ll be in new york in a few years – keep my beer cold.

Posted by: scot at July 25, 2004 at 11:07 pm

I love this: you a) call conservatives paranoid then b) claim revealing your name here will get you deported.
Priceless.

Posted by: Mark Poling at July 26, 2004 at 8:19 am

To Karol: radical left gloating over one sleazy rep losing to another?
You are pathetic.
To my followers, opulent Mark and evasive scot;
Creating ligislature at a knee-jerk reaction expanding powers
of already police state? I do call it paranoia. Avoiding
too close advances by locals, in a society where
informing is rarely frowned upon, but rather held
a moral duty? I call it healthy caution.
Go figure, my friends.

Posted by: rev at July 26, 2004 at 9:41 am

Karol it looks like the sewer overflowed into here.

Posted by: Radical Redneck at July 26, 2004 at 10:47 am

Hey, you god-damn evil republicans, stop being mean to Rev.
She’s my bitch! I mean, pussy.
She might not smell good, but she is smarter than all of you here! She’s smart enough to see how embittered and paranoid you all are. And she is brave, too! You should see her fight our teddy-bear. She’s also fighting this fascist dictatorship that you idiots worship. That takes guts, man. Ashcroft himself is after our pussy!
So stop stressing her out, please? The poor thing can’t even find her litter box.

Posted by: Ivan Lenin at July 26, 2004 at 12:05 pm

I was just about to start wondering where
Aunt Vanya is. Here is she, exaggerating as always:
this government is just sliding towards fascism, and
most of you (not sure y’all are idiots, but Vanya
should know better) are not worshiping it, but
genuinely hope to benefit from the ascending New Order.
My real objections though go to Redneck – the level of this
cesspool has been pretty unifrom over the month or so
I observe it. No spikes, so far.
Stay cool, guys.

Posted by: rev at July 26, 2004 at 1:38 pm

Zieg Heil all you fascist, reich wing, racist, zionist neo-cons! Osama will vaporize you all!
Allahu Akbar!

Posted by: rev at July 26, 2004 at 4:08 pm

Rev,
We are so humbled by your intelligence. We are really, really impressed. Will you please be our guru, and show us the way to enlightenment?

Posted by: Ivan Lenin at July 26, 2004 at 4:40 pm

Well, I’d like to enlighten my rather obtuse
imitator – it’s Sieg, and recht.
Das ist das Problem, meine Lieben – ihr seid
gleichzeitig ungebildet und selbstbewusst.
Eine schlimme Kombination, muss ich bestaetigen…
End of free advice.
In fact I am quite bored, guys. I guess
I’ll leave you to your own devices. Rot in peace.
